Introduction

This privacy policy describes how personal data is handled when using the Mangiamo mobile application (hereinafter “the App”), developed by Claudio Bosticco (hereinafter “the Developer”).

The App is designed to plan the meals of a household (family, couple, roommates) and generate shared shopping lists. To make sharing across people and devices possible, the App requires signing in with a Google account and stores data on Google’s Firebase infrastructure. The App contains no advertising, no analytics services and no tracking tools.

Data Collected

Account data

Sign-in happens through Google Sign-In (Firebase Authentication). Upon signing in, the App receives from Google:

  • display name
  • email address
  • profile photo (URL)
  • unique account identifier

This data is used solely to authenticate you and to identify you within your household (for example, to show other members who added a meal). The Developer does not use it for marketing purposes and does not share it with third parties.

App data

The App stores the data needed for it to work: household members, the food catalog, the meal calendar and shopping lists. This data is kept:

  • on Google Cloud Firestore, in the space reserved for your household, on servers located in the European Union
  • in an offline cache on your device, so the App can be used without a connection

Web version

The web version of the App requires no sign-in and keeps data exclusively on the device, in the browser’s local storage: no data is transmitted to external servers.

Data Sharing Within the Household

Mangiamo is a collaborative app: household data (meal calendar, food catalog, shopping lists) and members’ identifying data (name, email address, profile photo) are visible to all members of the household, i.e. the people who joined it via the invite code. Share the invite code only with people you trust.

Third-Party Services

The App relies on Google’s Firebase services, used as technical infrastructure:

  • Firebase Authentication, for Google account sign-in
  • Cloud Firestore, for storing and syncing household data in real time

Google’s processing of data is governed by the Firebase privacy documentation and Google’s privacy policy. No other external service is integrated into the App: no advertising, no analytics, no tracking.

Data Security

Database access is protected by security rules that allow reading and writing a household’s data only to the authenticated members of that household. Data in transit is encrypted, and storage is protected by the security measures of Google’s infrastructure. The offline cache on your device is protected by the operating system’s security mechanisms and by the measures you have configured on your device (passcode, biometric unlock).

Your Rights

  • Access and modification: you can view and edit your household’s data at any time, directly in the App
  • Data deletion: you can delete meals, foods, lists and members directly in the App
  • Sign-out: you can sign out of your account at any time from the People screen
  • Account deletion: you can request the complete deletion of your account and associated data by contacting the Developer at the email address below; requests are fulfilled within 30 days

Children

The App is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from minors. Household member profiles (for example, children) are simple labels created by the adults of the household and involve no account and no data collection from the minor.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

The Developer reserves the right to update this policy. Any changes will be published on this page, with the date at the top updated accordingly.
